Adnan was allegedly abducted and later murdered by his own friends. Now, the Andheri Metropolitan court has sent 28-year-old Sujith Nair and 18-year-old Ayush Bhatt to police custody till August 28, while 17-year-old Himesh Ambavat has been remanded to a juvenile home.
Predictably, the lawyers of the accused deny the charges of kidnapping and murder.
Says Sujith Nair's lawyer, Vikram Patil, "They were just friends."
Adds Ayush Bhatt's father, Arun Bhat, "My son was good friends with Adnan, but he is not involved in the crime. When the incident occurred both of us were with the police."
According to the police, Adnan drove out of his Lokhandwala house in his Silver Skoda, MH 43 A 109, at 11 pm on Saturday night. He called his mother at about 1:30 am, saying he would stay out that night, as he was playing pool.
At 11 am on Sunday, his parents received an unidentified a call saying that he had been kidnapped. They thought it was a prank, but at noon, they got another call, asking for Rs 2 crore ransom, which is when they filed a police complaint.
The boys who kidnapped Adnan made a few more phone calls, which helped the police trace them through the mobile phone number. They were arrested late on Monday from different parts of Mumbai.
Adnan's body was found in the marshes of Navi Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Adnan's Orkut profile has received over 5,000 scraps in the last 24 hours, mostly offering sympathy to his family.
However, Angel D has not been so lucky. Her profile is full of hate mail, also running into thousands.
