Mumbai:Advertisers are using every inch of public space to promote their products these days, from bus stops to hoardings to television screens to cinema halls; even urinals and loo’s haven’t been spared.

For those who think they have been chased everywhere, movie hall restrooms are now fitted fancy plasma screens, right above the urinals. It is the latest tool in brand advertising.

Zapakmail, the newest entrant in the email market is reaching its target audience. Toilets at all Adlabs theatres in Mumbai are sporting these innovative Advertisement tags and creating quite a buzz among many cinemagoers.

The tongue-in-cheek line ad line of Zapakmail is ‘free, simple, easy downloads,’ is plastered across the ladies and gents toilet seats right above the flush knob, making the message quite obvious.

While one moviegoer thought it was unique, something he hadn’t seen before, "I was surprised to see it, but its entertainment while you pee."

Ashni Mehta however thought the idea is distasteful, "Its crude and gross to put ads in the loo."

Zapakmail, came up with the idea four months ago, hoping to break through the clutter of traditional advertising methods.

The Marketing Manager of Zapakmail Arun Mehra believes method of advertising helped their company to cut costs.

"We were finding a way to reach out to the millions who go in to malls and multiplexes everyday, without paying the bombshell required,” he added.

The not-so-public-not-entirely-private-space that restrooms provide may soon become the new platform for direct marketing.
