Hyderabad: Election battlefields are heating up ahead of General Elections in Andhra Pradesh and political parties have taken the fight to the small screen.

The Telugu Desam's latest advertisement depicting IAS and police officers complaining about corruption in YSR Reddy's government seems to have set the pitch. A case of defamation has also been filed by the Congress against the TDP.

Complainant and Joint Secretary of Pradesh Congress Commitee Krishna Kumar Goud said, “We can advertise our own successful projects, but giving false perspective to public is not done, that is why I have lodged a complaint.”

But the advertisement that catches the eye is the one in which two chickens in TDP party colour are depicted as aam aadmi who are chit-chatting about the amount of public money that is being spent on publicity by the Government. And Congress's answer to it is no less entertaining.

When asked about any kind of necessary permissions for these ads, Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu said, “Why should we ask permission? They don’t know how to react to our ads. So they are trying to figure out loopholes.”

The regulatory authority that is the State Election Commission says that it is only after the announcement of the poll date that it becomes imperative for parties to secure the Commission's permission before broadcasting an ad. But till then the multi-media mud slinging goes on.
