Sitab Diara: BJP leader LK Advani began his 38-day anti-graft Jan Chetna Yatra on Tuesday from Jaya Prakash Narayan's birthplace Sitab Diara in Bihar. Advani was accompanied by BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley. Sharing stage with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Advani addressed the nation while highlighting the efforts his party put in to fight corruption.

Slamming the UPA government for poor governance and corruption, he accused the Manmohan Singh government of using all means to stay in power. "The party at the Centre is trying to remain in power by corruption," he said.

Advani also claimed that the NDA has kept its promise of good governance and said, "I am confident that the steps to fight against corruption, be it Lokpal, black money, will be taken up in the coming session of Parliament."

Speaking ahead of the yatra, Advani said, "I have come to this village for the first time and I accept Nitish Kumar's invitation to come here again after completing the the yatra."

Talking about anti-corruption measures in Bihar, Nitish said, "With the Lokseva law in place, officers have to deliver in time or face action in Bihar."

"We will continue to fight against corruption and work for good governance," he added.

Nitish said, "People are frustrated with the widespread corruption. I welcome Advaniji for starting his yatra against corruption from Bihar."

In all, Advani will be traveling 12,000 kilometres to 23 states. Advani is scheduled to address public meetings in Chhapra and Patna later on Tuesday.
