Advani reaches out to youth through blogs

New Delhi: It's an election year and the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, L K Advani, is on a technological overdrive. One of the first politicians in the country to use a palmtop, Advani is now using the Internet to reach out to the young.

Sources close to the former DY-PM say that he has gauged the pulse of young India. As he feels that the internet is the way to their hearts.

"Advani has experience of 80 but enthusiasm of 20," said former OSD, PMO Sudheendra Kulkarni.

For the Rath yaatri turned blogger, the blogs will be yet another platform for his political reaching out.

"Since it's election season obviously most of the blogs will be on politics," said Kulkarni.

The political blogspots have seen a recent spurt with Omar Abdullah and his brother-in-law Sachin Pilot keying in their often punchy views and opinions.

The celluloid blogworld has seen a recent invasion by the likes of Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, but the author of My Country, My Life just can't resist writing.

And taking cue from a very innovative Obama campaign, a number of politicians are picking up a trick or two from the former Chicago Senator's successful journey to the White House.

Young at heart Advani knows that he needs to win over the web constituency.
