Advani emerges power centre at BJP meet, MK slammed

New Delhi: The BJP National Executive has begun deliberations in Bhopal. The main focus at the meet is to prepare the party for possible mid-term Parliamentary polls.

The issue of leadership has also taken centrestage and the leaders is discussing as to who would lead the party to next parliamentary polls which could be earlier than scheduled.

Senior Leader L K Advani has taken the baton, especially in the absence of an indisposed Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Advani had virtually set the tone for himself as well as the party in Chennai on Thursday with a clear pitch for Hindutva as he commented on various issues like Ram Setu and Indo-US nuclear deal.

Senior party leaders have dropped enough hints that Advani could be in charge if the country heads for elections.

“Advani is one of the tallest leaders of the BJP. Atal ji has been the topmost leader of the BJP. Let the party decide on who will be the next candidate for the prime ministership,” said BJP leader Jaswant Singh.

Agreed BJP spokesperson Prakash Jawadekar. “The communal politics by UPA that divides the nation is Jinnah’s ideology. The way they have insulted Ram, no government in the world could have dared. It’s not just blasphemy, it’s an injury to national pride.”

BJP leader Yashwant Sinha lashed out at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for his comments on Ram.

“I feel Karnunandhi has lost his mental balance. He is talking all slander and wouldn’t have dared to say this about any other religion,” he said.
