Mumbai: In times when most would rather not go to Afghanistan, our own 'Circuit' went and shot his new film Kabul Express there. CNN-IBN correspondent Aarti Kapur Singh caught up with Arshad Warsi to share his experiences.
Aaarti Kapur Singh: How much of Gandhigiri were you able to teach the Afghans and Talibans?
Arshad Warsi: I think the Afghans are very sweet. One has to realise that the Afghans are not the Talibanis. So nobody can teach anything to Taliban because they have a very weird and warped belief. The Afghans by nature are wonderful people. One does not need to teach them anything. It’s a race that one needs to see. There is so much of violence and death but they are so full of life.
Aaarti Kapur Singh: Was it a thrill to be shooting amidst all this excitement and anxiety in Afghanistan?
Arshad Warsi: Yes. I loved it. I enjoyed working in the film. I never took the threat very seriously. I will go back if I ever have to.
Aaarti Kapur Singh: Kabul Express is a film that does not even have a proper heroine according to the Bollywood criteria. What do you think works for the film?
Arshad Warsi: I think it’s got a great story and great performances. People will get to know about the involvement of Pakistan, America and India, which they have not seen in the Press. There is so much to the film.
