Hyderabad: After two major blasts and a fatal flyover collapse, one would have thought the spirit of Nizam's city would been broken. But that is not a case in Hyderabad because here, the simplest of things is a harbinger of happiness.
Excitement engulfed the city as people sighted the moon on Thursday night, a sign that the holy month of Ramzan has begun. And life in the city will now change for a whole month.
“We observe roza and namaz. We don't bother anyone,” says a resident.
For traders too, this is a good time for business. Discounts and special offers are rife
The government has promised no power cuts and adequate water supply during the holy month.
But fears of another terror strike looms large so security is unprecedented across the city.
“Anti-sabotage teams have been deployed and over 1000 video cameras have been installed across the city,” says Police Commissioner, Hyderabad, Balwinder Singh.
The city of Hyderabad is decked like a bride and celebrations have reached every nook and corner.
It is after a long time the Ganesh festivities and Ramzan are coinciding so the city now resonates with both the Azaan and the Ganesh aarti.
