Former cricketer Vinod Kambli has been in the eye of a storm recently. And in another ‘moment of truth’, the ex cricketer has put the blame on the Indian selectors for ruining his career. In an exclusive interview with CNN-IBN Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai, Kambli also spoke about how he might contest the upcoming Maharashtra elections.

Excerpts from the interview:

Rajdeep Sardesai: 17 tests, 54 average and yet you did not get more opportunities. Do you believe the selectors could have given you more opportunities given that you had such a good record.

Vinod Kambli: Definitely, I'll stick to that because I know what I have gone through. When I made my debut for the country I did very well in Sharjah. But after that i was dropped for the Australia tour. The same thing happened when I was called for the world cup tour and dropped from the world cup side. So this dropping and coming back to the team... I wasn't sure about whether I was in the team or not.

Rajdeep Sardesai: I am also told that the Maharashtra elections are coming up and you are the vice-president of a party called Lok Bharti. Is there any chance of you contesting elections? Is there a possibility of Vinod Kambli like a Mohammad Azarhuddin is entering politics?

Vinod Kambli: I think we need a change. The entire nation and Maharashtra needs a change.

Rajdeep Sardesai: Will you contest it from Kanjurmarg, the area where it all begin for you.

Vinod Kambli: It is upto the people and I will definitely fight for them. And this is because there are no grounds left wherever you see in Kanjurmarg, Vikroli. Nothing at all.
