Hyderabad: This is no street side lingo. These are Deccani Hindi dialogues of Hyderabad's latest attempt at commercial Hindi cinema — Hyderabad Nawabs. The first ever Deccani Hindi film which looks at crossing over the Hyderabadi way was released on Friday.
“Everybody we know wants to go abroad, so we are projecting that this film is about global Hyderabadis," actor Shruti said.
Utopia entertainers' previous hit, Angrez was well received across Hyderabad and has crossed 250 days at cinemas after director Nagesh Kukunoor's hugely popular, Hyderabad Blues.
Hyderabad Nawabs is another attempt at serving up the Southern metro's unique cinematic platter.
The film takes a look at Hyderabad's typical nawabi culture — the city's laidback demeanour and its fascination with homegrown NRIs.
The film has also kept an eye on the box office, which explains the item number by Mumbai model, Anupama Verma.
"Everybody here thinks they are nawabs. Their pockets might be empty but they insist that they are nawabs,” actor Aziz Jehangir said.
And if you thought that only Telugu cinema has a massive fan following in Hyderabad then its time to change your mind. This emerging Hyderabadi craze is slowly catching on in south India.
Hyderabad Nawabs is a delectable mix of comedy, romance and drama, sprinkled with plenty of local flavour. Producers of the film are hoping that this filmi platter gets as many takers as the Hyderabadi biryani.
