New Delhi: Former Congress MP from Porbandar Vitthal Radadia, whose gun-toting photographs appeared in the media a few months back, is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. Radadia, a prominent Leuva Patel leader from Gujarat, hit headlines when pictures of him menacingly approaching a toll booth attendant with a gun were aired and caused huge embarrassment to the Congress.
Back then, the BJP had strongly hit out at the Congress when the photographs had come to light. Now, Radadia, along with his son, has resigned from the state Assembly and the Congress party.
It is expected that Chief Minister Narendra Modi will welcome the Saurashtra strongman into the party fold next week. Radadia and his son Jayesh had contested the state Assembly polls in 2012 and both of them had won their respective seats.
Hoping to be nominated as the leader of opposition in the state Assembly, Radadia had resigned from the Lok Sabha when he was a Congressman. However, Congress had nominated Shankersinh Vaghela as opposition leader in the house over Radadia.
