After sex, Shane eyes the Ashes

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Australian cricketer Shane Warne wants to keep his mind on cricket rather than lurid tabloid revelations about his sexual escapades.

While the cricketing world predicts a burnout for the 36-year-old spinner before the 2009 Ashes series, he refuses to rule out playing a part in it.

This comes as interesting since the common belief is that Warne had played his final Test in England when Australia surrendered the Ashes last year.

Warne insists that his motivation remains undeterred.

"There's a lot of time between now and then and there's a lot cricket to be played. I'll be 40 at the end of the 2009 series," Warne said.

"I don't know. You never want to look too far ahead but you never know what tomorrow brings. I'm enjoying playing cricket at the moment," he added.

"It's my hobby and my passion. I love talking about it and being involved. It comes down to enjoyment. As long as I'm still enjoying it I will continue to play."

"If I feel like I'm letting the team down, not contributing and enjoying things then I won't hang around," he reassured.

"If I'm still playing then who knows, I might hang around beyond the next Ashes. We'll have to wait and see."

Reports of Warne involving himself with an academy to bolster and hone the art of spin bowling in England places him in better light.

The 100 best child spin bowlers across England will attend a training camp with Warne on September 6.

Spinning a Scandal
Warne's latest sexual scandal was exposed on Sunday by a British newspaper which showed him in a sex romp with two models.

The threesome reportedly took place on Thursday night in a plush London flat, before the 36-year-old racked up some more impressive figures the following morning.

Warne took seven for 99 against Middlesex, his best performance yet for Hampshire.

News of the World published pictures of Warne standing in his underwear while two topless models – a blonde and a brunette — fooled around with a sex toy.

The weekly tabloid also ran explicit text messages allegedly from the spin bowling ace, who has been facing an expensive divorce battle with his wife Simone.

From being accused of sleeping with strippers to sending raunchy text messages and begging a British student for sex Warne, tagged the King of Spin, is fast attaining the dubious distinction of being Australia's King of Sex Scandals.

In June 2000, reports of Warne having phone sex with a 22-year-old nurse cost him the Australian vice-captaincy and in all probability the opportunity to succeed Steve Waugh as the captain of the Australian cricket team.
