After the success of Sivaji, Rajinikanth will now be seen in Kuselan, a remake of the Malayalam film Katha Parayumbol. The film's mahurat shot took place at AVM studios on Friday where Rajinikanth spoke about his role and his plan to pen an autobiography.
CNN-IBN: Could you tell us a bit about your role in Kuselan?
Rajinikanth: I'm doing a guest role. I'm acting as a superstar in this picture.
CNN-IBN: Yesterday your biography was released. Have you read the book?
Rajinikanth: I've not read it fully.
CNN-IBN: Would you be writing your own autobiography?
Rajinikanth: Later…definitely, later.
Kuselan brings together the successful team of Rajinikanth, director P Vasu and comedian Vadivelu, who have earlier delivered one of the biggest hits in the superstar's career Chandramukhi. It also reconnects Rajini with his mentor K Balachander, who is producing the film.
“Though I've done many films. The film that earned me the respect of the elders was Ragavendra. Though I've acted in many films, it was only after Netrikan that people like Rajkumar and Sivaji Ganesaan appreciated me. I became a superstar through Annamalai and I earned international repute through Muthu. Likewise Kuselan will also be an important film in my career,” Rajinikanth said.
And the film’s maker has no doubt about that.
"The film will be a successful Rajini Film. I've no doubt about it,” K Balachandran said.
In Kuselan, Rajinikanth plays the role played by Mammooty in the original. But unlike the Malayalam film, Rajinikanth's role will be longer with a good dose of songs, action and power packed one-liners. It wouldn't be a Rajini film otherwise, would it?
