Srinagar: Curfew in the Kashmir Valley has been lifted a week after Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was hanged. The week-long restrictions have been removed and the Internet services have been restored.
Life is slowly limping back to normalcy as the local markets opened for business as usual. Three persons had died and over 50 others were injured in clashes between protesters and security forces during protests against Guru's execution.
A police spokesman said the curfew has been clamped as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order. The hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for march to Eidgah graveyard in the memory of Guru on Friday.
