New Delhi: The police have arrested one person in the Agartala blasts case. The accused, Bikas Deb Burman is a member of the banned outfit, All-Tripura Tiger Force.
Police claim that Burman has confessed to setting off the bombs with a mobile phone and has also acknowledged that the explosives were obtained from from Bangladesh.
One person was killed and more than 70 others were injured when serial blasts ripped through Agartala on October 1.
Earlier, on October 12 police had recovered bomb-making materials from a house, where explosives used in the blasts were allegedly made.
Acting on a tip-off, Inspector General of Police Bishnu Debbarma had raided the house of Satyajit Roy at Bhati-Abhoynagar in Agartal and recovered some bomb making materials, wires and SIM cards from a room. The room had been rented out to three tribal youths.
The search for the three youths, who are absconding, is on, police said.
Police suspect that the banned All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) was behind the blasts.
