New Delhi: The agenda note for Home Minister P Chidambaram’s meeting with Chief Ministers criticises chides at least five states for their alleged laxity in coastal security, CNN-IBN has learnt.
Chidambaram will meet the Chief Ministers in Delhi on Tuesday to discuss how to fight terrorism after the attacks in Mumbai last year. CNN-IBN has exclusive access to the agenda note that has already been circulated for all chief ministers.
Chidambaram has come down heavily on Orissa, West Bengal, Kerala, Goa and Maharasthra for allegedly not doing enough to secure their coastline.
There note details which state has spent how much to bolster the intelligence gathering mechanism within its territory.
Special emphasis is also being laid on further improvising human intelligence and technical intelligence.
FOCUS OF MEETING
“The focus (of the meeting) will be on terrorism and sharing of intelligence, including intelligence apparatus, coastal security, security of important establishments both public and of iconic importance. The day-long discussion will be on terrorism and how to counter it,'' said Chidambaram on Saturday.
The meeting would also discuss the structure of the National Investigation Agency, which has been set up after the Mumbai attacks to probe terrorism and organised crime.
