Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was booed by the public over his remark that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel should have the first prime minister of India.
He was booed by the public present at the inaugural event of the Saradar Vallabbhai Patel Museum in Ahmedabad.
"If Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel would have been first Prime Minister of India, fortune of the country would have been different," Modi said.
"Sardar Patel devoted his entire life for uniting the country," he added.
Modi and Manmohan Singh shared the dais on Tuesday at the inauguration of the museum. This was the first time the two leaders came together after the BJP anointed Modi as its PM candidate. The leaders praised Sardar Patel for his contribution to the nation.
