Ahmedabad: A 50-year-old woman was allegedly robbed and murdered by two unidentified persons on Sunday in Chandkheda area of Ahmedabad, the police said. "One Pushpa Nathani was murdered and her jewellery was also stolen today. She was staying with her son, who had gone to office," the police said.
Nathani, who was staying with her son in Chandkheda had lunch at her daughter's place, who stayed next door before she headed back home, the police said. However, two unidentified persons entered her home, which the police said, might have been open.
They first locked the home from inside, took her to another room, strangulated her and fled with her jewellery by jumping off the bathroom window, the police said. The woman's husband was not with her as he resides in Chiloda near Gandhinagar, the police said.
The persons first locked the home from inside, took her to another room and then strangulated her.
"Primary investigation points to a motive to loot. The lady might have resisted, for which they strangulated her, resulting in her death," Chandkheda police inspector AG Gohil said. "We have formed three teams to crack the case and are probing all angles. As of now, family members say there was no enemity with anyone," Gohil said.
The police has booked the unidentified duo under Sections 302 (murder), 392 (robbery) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched a manhunt to nab them.
