Chennai: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief J Jayalalithaa celebrated her 60th birthday on Sunday. In a week's time, Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam's rising leader MK Stalin will turn 55.
Interestingly both politicians are using the occasion to attract youngsters into their party
On Sunday a large number of AIADMK workers celebrated Jayalalithaa's birthday.
"Amma's 60th birthday is a grand occasion for us," an AIADMK worker said.
And on the birthday stage instead of candles there were sixty couples. All of them were ready to get married and their leader was their priest
Psycophancy has no limits in Tamil Nadu and a newly wed couple Vimal and Mariamma all ready have an advance request for Amma.
"We want her to name our first child whether it's a boy or girl is not important. But Amma will have to decide and name the baby," Vimal said.
At her party headquarters the traditional birthday cake cutting exercise was left to her cadres and as she marches into her 60s her message to her party was to get younger.
"No country can be made without the young and no great country can be made without the old," Jayalalithaa told her party workers.
Out of power in the state and searching for allies in News Delhi, Amma's needs the young blood to fight actor-turned politician Vijayakanth who's eating into her votes.
Her archrivals though are preparing for the next big political birthday that is on March 1 when Dr Kalaignar M Karunanidhi's son MKStalin turns 55/
His party want's to organise a cricket tournament for his birthday to attract youngsters.
The casualty will be perhaps the birthday cake as weddings and cricket become Tamil Nadu's political birthday style.
