New Delhi: Doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the country’s premier medical institute, forgot a towel inside a woman’s after a surgery.

Gurcharan Kaur, 65, started bleeding and suffered severe pain two days after a gall bladder surgery at AIIMS. Gurcharan’s family took her back to AIIMS where doctors did an ultra sound and said she had pus. They gave her medication but Gaur’s pain didn’t end.

Gurcharan then went to a hospital in Tilak Nagar in southwest Delhi and it was only then her pain was diagnosed. “In the CT scan they found a towel in her stomach,” says Harinder Singh, Gurcharan’s son.

Doctors at the Tiak Nagar hospital conducted an emergency operation to remove the towel. Gurucharan is now recovering and her family plans to sue AIIMS.

“Doctors are considered gods but these ones turned out to be devils,” Simran Kaur, Gurcharan’s daughter.

AIIMS has so far refused to react to the family's allegation.
