Mumbai: Well, if the stringent measures by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has ensured that you haven't had a chance to see an airplane from close quarters, then this may well be your best chance.
The venue is a road in Chembur, a suburb off Southeast Mumbai, but the catch is that the plane there is without a few body parts - like the wings and the tail.
The scrapped 75-foot-long Boeing 737 Air Sahara plane stuck on the Chembur road off the Mumbai Pune highway is grabbing quite a few eyeballs.
The plane was being transported on a trailer to a select location for an entertainment zone on Sunday. Trouble began when it got stuck negotiating it's way off the Mumbai Pune highway, and maneuvering issues cropped up.
The driver then just simply abandoned it!
While some air traffic enthusiasts enjoyed the close encounter with a jet, not everyone is happy with the way things stand.
Autodrivers say the plane is blocking the road and that it is difficult to maneuver around it, while shopkeepers say that they have to close shop because of the jam the abandoned jet is causing.
However, there are quite a few people who would love to own the wingless bird, which is estimated at roughly between Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 1 crore.
Says a prospective buyer, Manpreet Singh, "Permissions being obtained from BMC to find out whether this plane can be purchased or not."
While prospective owners are running around the corridors of authority to get the right sanctions, most of the bystanders at Chembur are simply fly-by-night tourists, having fun stroking the chin of the plane they have come to admire so.
