The BJP on Friday gave notice for the suspension of the question hour in the Rajya Sabha over the issue.
In an attempt to distance himself and his son Karthi from the controversial deal, Chidambaram tried to read out his son's statement in the Lok Sabha - but was unable to do so without interruption.
He termed Subramanian Swamy's allegations as wild and baseless.
Swamy had alleged that Chidambaram's son profited from the Aircel-Maxis deal and that the Home Minister should quit.
