Chief Ministers to meet PM in Delhi today

New Delhi: With the increasing importance of security in the country, Union Home Minister has called a meeting of all Chief Ministers in New Delhi.

At this meeting it was decided to be critical of the Government’s moves without coming across as being politically incorrect.

“We have a deep concern over the vulnerable internal security situation in the country - the incidents in Assam, the continuing encounters in Poonch,” says BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley.

In fact, several Chief Ministers are upset at the tone of a letter written by P Chidambaram suggesting the states get rid of mafia gangs and land sharks and that control rooms be set up 24X7 without losing time. The Janata Dal (United) for one is not taking this kindly.

Every Chief Minister wants to set up an NSG hub in their state. But the Home Ministry wants to know that why most of the states have not spent more than 40 per cent of their budget in strengthening policing. And for the coastal states, its question is that why so little has been done to secure the coastline.
