Bhopal: Twenty-two-year old Krishna Kumar, who holds a masters degree in history from Delhi University, is busy practising cricket with his fellow villagers these days. He is getting ready for the blind world cup to be held in South Africa this December.

"I have been selected to play for the Indian team. We will be leaving for South Africa in December. Twelve teams are participating and our main aim is to win the World Cup. We are putting in a lot of hard work for this," Krishna says.

Krishna is the first from Madhya Pradesh to participate in an international cricket tournament for the blind. He has played in several national-level matches and his father couldn't be more proud.

"We don't regret the fact that he can't see. In fact, we are happy that he has done what many normal people are unable to achieve," says his father, Khushi Lal.

The matches are played with a white plastic ball filled with tiny ball bearings that make a rattling noise to alert the batsman and the fielders.

Krishna Kumar hopes to make India proud this coming December.
