Allahabad: Angry students go on rampage, vandalise buses over government job quota

Allahabad: Thousands of students took to the streets in Allahabad protesting against reservation in government jobs. The students alleged that the Akhilesh Yadav government was discriminating against students from the general category.

Many angry students vandalised government buses. They alleged that students from only one caste are getting government jobs.

Recently the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) had decided to open up the unreserved category vacancies for reserved category candidates. A group of students have challenged the UPPSC decision before the Allahabad High Court.

The petition will be taken up by a division bench of Allahabad High Court on July 15.
