Court to hear PIL against Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on 'Hindu terror' remarks

Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court will hear a public interest litigation against Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde over his controversial remarks on "Hindu terror". On January 20, at the Congress' Chintan Shivir in Jaipur, Shinde had accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of running terror camps.

The minister had also cited an investigation report that proved BJP and RSS were supporting terrorism. He received sharp criticism from both BJP and RSS over the remarks who also and criminal complaint was filed against him.

On Saturday, BJP had demanded that sedition charge be pressed on Shinde. It said, "What Shinde has done is inexcusable. He has acted more like Pakistan's agent and not as our Home Minister. A case of sedition should be filed against him. He should resign from office."

Shinde had accused the BJP and the RSS of promoting Hindu terrorism and running terror camps.

Shinde had said, "Training camps of both BJP and RSS are promoting Hindu terrorism. Whether it is Samjhauta blast or Mecca Masjid blast or Malegaon blast, they plant bombs and blame it on the minorities." The BJP had slammed Shinde saying his statement on terror reflects an anti-Hindu mindset.

Both the BJP and the RSS had also demanded an apology from Shinde and the Congress party. The BJP also launched a nationwide protest, which was led by its newly elected president Rajnath Singh.

Rajnath demanded that Shinde be sacked and threatened to disrupt the Budget Session. "We will protest till Shinde is sacked. If there is no action taken, we will fight it in Parliament," he had said.
