Rohtak: In a suspected case of honour killing, a couple have allegedly been lynched in Haryana on Wednesday. This came after they left their village to reportedly get married.
After the couple reportedly left their village in the Rohtak district on Tuesday to get married, the girl's family contacted them and persuaded them to come home. They assuring the couple that they would not be harmed.
But the two were instead murdered. DSP Anil Kumar has said that upon returning to their village the girl's family lynched then cremated their daughter and subsequently broke the boy's arms and legs, finally beheading him before throwing his body in front of his house.
The two, who were good friends and studied together in a college in Rohtak, were missing since Tuesday, sparking rumours of their marriage, police officers said adding families of both the victims have fled their homes and raids were being conducted to trace their whereabouts.
