Jammu: With elections in Jammu and Kashmir due in November, it's the Amarnath land row that's going to be the primary political weapon.

It has already taken centre stage for many parties looking to weave their strategies around it, some even roping in the faces of the agitation to strengthen their poll campaign.

Housewife turned active BJP member, Shilpi Verma is full of political plans.

"We are sure to succeed and we shall move ahead!" Shilpi said.

Shilpi has become the new face of BJP's poll campaign in Jammu. She is the widow of Kuldeep Verma, the man, who allegedly committed suicide over the Amarnath land agitation.

30-year-old Shilpi will lead BJP's campaign in the coming polls, a clear indication of what is to be the trump card.

"We were a part of the Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti and it's our issue. It will stay as an issue," said co-incharge of BJP's J&K affairs, RP Singh.

Members of the Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti who spearheaded the 60-day campaign in Jammu, are being roped in.

The samiti which had always claimed that it was apolitical too has a changed stance.

"Officially, it is a non-political organization but obviously and certainly it will sponsor and endorse candidates who follow the agenda of the Sangrash Samiti," spokesperson of the Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti, Dr Jitender Singh said.

Given the fact that the land row agitation had driven the state to polarisation, the National Conference is now looking on a poll agenda for bridging the regional divide in the state.

"Time is the best and biggest healer. As a responsible party, we will ensure that nothing we speak will increase the divide," said NC leader Omar Abdullah.

Even as the Amaranth land row is overtly settled for now, the sentiment will be revisited time and again.
