New York: Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen's son Kabir is a hip-hop artist and has just released his third album Peaceful Solutions.

The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based hip-hop artist calls himself MC Kabir and admits that his father's reaction was somewhat typical of an Indian parent when he first chose his career. But the economist has been firmly supportive of Kabir's choice.

"When it came to choosing music as a major in college, he was incredibly supportive of that. Sure there were times when he might have said, "Don't you want to be a doctor or a lawyer? Don't you want to live a life with a stable income?" But, for the most part, there has been nothing but support and encouragement on his end," says Kabir.

Kabir's new album Peaceful Solutions is likely to attract a wide listenership since it's being distributed by Rykodisc/Warner. The album's central message is that of finding peace.

"It's a record about re-channeling of negative energy but it's also about discovering oneself and celebrating life," says Kabir.

His father pays special attention to Kabir's music since he now gets asked in interviews about his son's work a lot.
