New Delhi: After bandhs and protests by filmstars it's the turn of a Union Minister to take up the cause of the Karnataka in the Cauvery dispute.
Union Minister of State for Information Malavalli Huchegowda Ambareesh on Wednesday resigned from the Lok Sabha and Union Cabinet over the Cauvery Tribunal's verdict.
The film actor turned Congress leader from Mandya has sent his resignation letters to Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Mandya is a 100 per cent Cauvery basin district and it will help him to reap more political benefits in future.
Ambareesh, who is the third time MP from Mandya, had resigned from the Lok Sabha following the Cauvery issue in 2002 also, but his resignation wasn’t accepted then.
