New Delhi: A man in Oregon, US, claims he is pregnant and is due in July 2008. While it may sound impossible, Thomas Beatie, a transgender, says it feels ‘incredible’ to be a mother-to-be.

Beatie is carrying the child of Nancy, his wife who underwent a hysterectomy years ago.

Five-month pregnant Beatie’s picture appears on the website advocate.com where he writes himself.

He has written on the site that he used to be a woman but kept his female reproductive organs after a sex change.

He also writes the couple's decision had made them the objects of societal ostracisation.

He said doctors refused to treat them, while other medical workers refused to recognise Nancy as his wife.
