New Delhi: The growing tension between India and Pakistan has not just hit sports but also the music and entertainment ties. Shows involving Pakistani singers have been called off or are facing cancellation.
Pakistani singer Ali Zafar was supposed to perform at the Times Pune festival at Shaniwar Wada on Saturday, but his show was cancelled at the last moment due to Shiv Sena protests.
Pakistani classical singer Javed Bashir, along with the Mekaal Hasan band, performed in Delhi on Sunday evening at Blue Frog. They were slated to perform at the Siri Fort Auditorium on Monday, however their show too got cancelled at the last moment.
This comes as tension grips the India-Pakistan border after two Indian soldiers were killed by Pakistani soldiers and one of them was beheaded. However, despite the tension, India is continuing with its visa liberalisation to Pakistani senior citizens, who are getting visas on arrival. Pakistani citizens above the age of 65 years will not be required to report to the police. They will be allowed to move freely across India. However, they will not be allowed to visit Kashmir, Punjab and Kerala.
