New Delhi: Amidst uproar in India over Pakistan's resolution against Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru's execution, sources say the government has called of the India-Pakistan Hockey series. The series was scheduled to be held from April 5 in India. India-Pakistan Hockey matches were also scheduled to be held in Pakistan from April 25 to May 5.
This comes a day after the Pakistan Parlaiment passed a resolution against Afzal Guru's execution. Besides condemning the hanging of Guru, the resolution also expressed concern at the situation created in Jammu and Kashmir by the execution.
India has reacted strongly to the resolution. External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said that Pakistan has no jurisdiction over action taken by the Government of India against terror activities committed on Indian soil.
"It's a matter within the jurisdiction of India. It just seems that this unwholesome interest in something that is a sordid tale of terrorist activities on our country is not a very pleasant thing and I don't think we should be reacting more than that. In their Assembly they should address matters of their country and they should let our Assembly address matters of our country," Khurshid said.
