Amitabh Bachchan on a comic strip run

Mumbai: Children today may not be very familiar with the comic book Chandamama but that didn't damper the spirit of it's 60th anniversary celebrations in Mumbai, where none other than Amitabh Bachchan released a special edition of the book.

And at 60+ Amitabh Bachchan sure has memories of growing up on a staple of Chandamama.

Big B said, "When I was a youngster in the city of Allahabad, I was initially influenced a lot by western comics, till my parents introduced me to Chandamama and then there was a change and I would read only Chandamama. "

And he's keen to pass it onto his future generation who so far have not been introduced to the magic of Chandamama.

"There are two young children in my family, my granddaughter and grandson who need to be introduced to it," the superstar said.

The 60th anniversary edition traces some of the earliest memories of the book with an interesting section on the covers of Chandamama dating back to 1948, and all this for just Rs 449.
