Chennai: She may be caught in a political solitude in Chennai in but that doesn’t stop Tamil Nadu’s Amma from involving herself in the heat of issues, even if she has to head northwards for it.

Former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalaithaa is now trying to show off her political prowess in far away Uttar Pradesh.

Jayalaithaa has decided that she will campaign for her new-found friend Samajwadi Party chief 'Bhaiyya' Mulayam Singh Yadav to take on 'Behen ji' Mayawati in the upcoming UP elections.

The fact that this actress-turned-politician is fluent in Hindi will obviously help her cause in the cowbelt.

"Both Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh had requested me to come and campaign in UP and Most probably I will," she says.

But what about her friend Mulayam's arch rival Sonia Gandhi? Sonia is also Jayalalithaa's arch rival Karunanidhi's ally. But of late, Jaya has softened her once vicious attack on the Congress president's foreign origins.

"I only opposed a foreigner becoming prime minister. I do not have not have any personal rivalry with Sonia Gandhi," she says, indicating enough that it’s all possible in politics for a politician who is bereft of allies and finds herself lonely behind the tall gates of her Poes Gardens residence in Chennai.
