Barmer/Jaipur: After 12 years of cross border love and five months of marriage, Faiyza has a reason to smile. She has crossed the Indo-Pak border to be with her husband, Haroon Mohammed who is on top of the world.

A resident of Samdadi village in Barmer district in Rajasthan, Haroon says,” We know each other since 1994. I promised her that I'll marry her and I have kept my promise.”

“My dreams have come true. I have brought her to India and so far it's been good. I'm hoping everything will fall in place,” adds Haroon.

A resident of Hyderabad in Pakistan, Faiyza fell in love with Haroon 12 years ago when she had co me to visit her relatives in Barmer. Since then the two were in touch through letters and phone calls.

In March this year, Faiyza's father fell ill and Haroon rushed to Pakistan where the two got married. And it was only after that Faiyza has been able to come to India.

But even in this moment of joy Haroon cannot forget the rough weather their love has gone through during the fluctuating Indo-Pak relations.

Says Haroon, ” We couldn't write to each other and the phones were tapped. There was a time when we couldn't get in touch with each other for two years.”

“Our love grew through the letters we wrote to each other and I always believed he would come to take me,” says Faiyza.

Faiyza and Haroon are now hoping that Faiyza's visa gets extended so she can stay on and finally apply for an Indian citizenship.
