Anand Jon's family alleges that the Indian-American fashion designer for celebrities, who has been sentenced to 59 years in jail for sexually assaulting aspiring models, was a victim of "complete racism and bias" in the US court. His family and lawyers allege that he was not given a fair trial.
Anand Jon now faces virtually the rest of his life in jail.
It is this desperation that's driving sister Sanjana to make another public plea to whoever is listening, seeking help for brother Anand Jon.
Sanajana now alleges that Anand Jon's real crime is the colour of his skin.
Sanjana said that the police had been abusing Anand Jon ever since his arrest by using racial slurs. She said they called him a nigger, a curry head and sued abusive language that is unworthy of being reproduced in print.
Right from the beginning of the case, alleges Sanjana, the police had bracketed Anand Jon as a terrorist and were every bit racist in their approach.
He was handed a 59 year jail sentence by the Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, guilty of of 16 sex crimes, including rape, some of his alleged victims were as young as 14 years of age.
His famly though insisted throughout that he was innocent and asked the Indian government to intervene several times, using the media to appeal.
The family also handed out documents to try and show that Jon was being set up, even claiming that the tests done on the victims never showed any sexual assault.
But the fashion fraternity of India does not seem to be sympathetic of the accused.
Some said he may have done something to deserve such a harsh punishment. Another designer wished him good luck for the crushingly long period in jail.
Yet another designer said that anyone who destroys another human beings dignity and life deserves harsh punishments.
The family and the fashion designer who has been convicted may allege racial bias and call the trial unfair. But none of their protests and shock find any echo in the Los Angeles court room that has sentenced him, rejecting Anand's plea on Monday for a new trial.
Jon's troubles are not about to end too soon. A New York court awaits the Los Angeles trial to get over to follow up a case against the designer on similar counts.
