Anand faces Kramnik to defend his world title

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: World Chess champion Viswanathan Anand will need to draw on all his experience when he takes on world No. 6 Russian Vladimir Kramnik as he defends his world title for the first time in Bonn from Tuesday.

Anand hasn't had the best of preparations going into the 12-game match, which will be played at the Art and Exhibition Hall in Bonn.

He had a disastrous outing in Bilbao last month finishing last that saw him drop from world No. 1 to world No. 5.

Kramnik is considered the favourite as he has more experience in the classical chess mode.

They will play 12 matches in the classical chess mode and in case of a tie, rapid and blitz games will decide the winner.
