Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday granted permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to prosecute First Additional Special Judge for CBI cases T Pattabhirama Rao. He was suspended on Thursday by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Justice for alleged irregularities. The CBI is expected to register a case soon.
The CBI has claimed that a deal of Rs 6 crore was struck between former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and the suspended judge for the former's bail. Rs 2.8 crore were recovered from the locker of the suspended CBI judge's son, sources told CNN-IBN on Friday.
Rao was hearing the Obulapuram mining scam case. He had granted bail to prime accused Gali Janardhana Reddy on May 11 in the case. Reddy, however, is still in jail in another case.
Judge Rao was also hearing the EMAAR case and heard the petition for defreezing YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy's Saakshi TV accounts in the disproportionate assets case.
Earlier, on Thursday evening the government also cancelled an MoU with Reddy on building a steel plant in Kadapa.
