Anganwadi workers seek pay hike

New Delhi: Anganwadi workers and helpers have appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to raise their remuneration.

A delegation of the All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers today met the Prime Minister and raised this issue, a release issued by the Federation said.

The delegation expressed displeasure since no budgetary provision was made to increase their remuneration, the release said.

The Prime Minister promised to take up the issue with the Women and Child Development Minister, it said.
