Anna Hazare says Prime Minister is honest

Solapur: A day after his team targeted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for alleged corruption, Anna Hazare on Sunday said that the prime minister is an honest man.

Speaking to reporters at Pandharpur on Sunday, he said that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh "is an honest man though some ministers in his cabinet are corrupt".

Prominent Team Anna members Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan had on Saturday written to the Prime Minister demanding setting up of a Special Investigation Team to probe cases of corruption against 15 ministers, including him, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and External Affairs Minister SM Krishna.

Team Anna members had written to the PM demanding setting up of a SIT to probe cases of corruption against 15 ministers.

It cited portions of a draft report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to make charges against the Prime Minister when the Coal Ministry was with him.

Hazare said that the core committee of the team would be meeting on June 3 and 4 in New Delhi.
