New Delhi: Tirupati is all set for the grand festival of Tirumala Brahmotsavam, an annual nine-day festival, which begins on Saturday.

After conducting the weekly celestial bath called Abhishekam on Friday, the presiding deity was adorned with special diamond studded ornaments by the priests.

The entire Tirumala area on the hills have been decorated and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YSR Reddy is scheduled to attend the festival on Saturday.

Tight security arrangements are in place in both the hills and in Tirupathi in the wake of the recent Hyderabad blasts.

Armed policemen were posted along the ghat road between Tirupati and Tirumala, while local TTD vigilance and security officials were working in coordination with the Special Protection Group.

Closed circuit cameras were installed at prime locations in the hill top besides deploying hundreds of police personnel in every nook and corner of Tirumala in view of threat perception to the temple where scores of pilgrims from all over the country and abroad would converge during the Brahmotsavam festival.
