Mumbai: Theatre lovers in Mumbai have a reason to smile. The Annual Prithvi Theatre Festival returns. And to mark its 31st anniversary, the festival is celebrating the "theatres of India" bringing in regional theatre to the city.

Roping in three prominent theatre groups from across the country, the festival kicks off from November 7.

“It is really good theatre. It gives you a sense of what is possible in India, it gives you a sense of variety, and through just so little, you get to see such a wide range. I think that is what is extraordinary about this festival,” Trustee of Prithvi Theatre Sanjana Kapoor said.

Meanwhile, theatre personality Rajit Kapoor said, “This time it is bringing down the theatre form. It is not just from different regions but different forms of theatre that have been thriving for so long in our country, some of it that we are not even aware of. So it is also opening up your horizons, lines of acceptability to what theatre is and bringing it to us here city-bred people.”

The 13-day long festival boasts of 18 highly acclaimed plays like The Rhinoceros among many others.

So all you theatre lovers, queue up as bookings for the festival open from October 29.
