A 27-year-old German national has registered a complaint with Goa Police against an unknown person who she says molested her on the Cavelossim beach on Friday night when she had gone to the beach for a swim with her friend.
Based on the description provided to them, the police have released a sketch of the accused . They say the accused is an Indian, but whether he is a local or not could not be confirmed.
The police have already sent their teams to Colva—11 km north of the Cavelossim beach—and other surrounding areas, and detained five men.
Police are under tremendous pressure from the media and the politicians to not mess this case up but they admit it will be difficult to trace the accused. They say they are taking all precautions because this is the second incident in last one month.
The rape and murder case of the 15-year-old British tourist Scarlette Keeling has already put a question mark on the safety situation in Goa.
Foreign tourists in Goa, however, say no panic buttons have been pressed yet. And even though the tourists are still coming in, it will be interesting to see how the next season will be.
