Srinagar: Another infant died on Saturday at the Srinagar's GB Pant hospital, taking the death toll to 360 in five months. Parents have alleged negligence by the hospital authorities.

CNN-IBN had earlier reported on the shortage of medical staff and facilities at the hospital, forcing the state government to release funds for its upgradation.

The death of yet another infant in the hospital has incensed people. "I have been here for the last four days. When I go to a doctor, he asks me to go to another and every doctor behaves in the same way. A baby died in front of me. We are from Sopore and we are ready to die," said one of the protesters present at the hospital.

Parents allege negligence by the hospital authorities in the case.

The hospital is facing an acute shortage of trained staff and medical equipment, the CNN-IBN report said.

The doctors say they are unable to cope with the huge overload because of a shortage of trained staff and machines. In the ICU, as against a required 20 to 30 ventilators, there are only five.
