New Delhi: A Delhi court has issued a warrant against former underworld don Abu Salem to be produced before the court in an extortion case.
Salem is alleged to have made extortion calls to a south Delhi-based businessman, Ashok Gupta, in April 2001 and demanded Rs 5 crore.
The don is currently lodged in Mumbai's Yervada jail, under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
The case in currently being handled by the crime branch. Additional Session Judge Ravinder Kaur issued production warrant against Salem for April 23.
