Mumbai: Actor Anupam Kher is all set to take a morning walk with Sharmila Tagore after 25 long years. Both of them will be soon seen together in a film titled Morning Walk.

Twenty-five years ago, in 1984, Kher shared the screen space with Sharmila in a lesser known film Jawani.

“After Saransh, director Ramesh Behl told me there are two roles - one opposite Moushmi Chatterjee and one opposite Sharmila Tagore. And I was like wondering, then I went to him and said I will do the one with Sharmila, I mean opposite Sharmila,” says Kher.

“I was an admirer of her movies. You are always in awe of those whom you admired in your younger days. I will always admire Waheeda Rehman, Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan),” adds Kher.

It is not just films that connect these two actors. Both Kher and Sharmila have also headed the Central Board of Film Certification. In fact Sharmila took over as the Censor Board chief after Kher was unceremoniously asked to quit the post in 2005.

“I did mention it to her that, but I think it was important to stay away from the topic of censors because she is still working as the head,” says Kher.

Coming back to Morning Walk, this slice of life film, sees Kher playing a professor who moves from Kolkata to Mumbai in order to spend time with his son and mend broken bridges of the past. Sharmila Tagore makes an appearance as an old student of the professor.

And as far as returning to direction is concerned, the actor is already working on a script.

“I have another 50 years to go,” says Kher.
