Months after the release of Nippu, Gunasekhar announced that efforts were on to take his dream project, a historical drama, on the floors.
He issued a statement saying that the time was right for making 'Rudrama Devi' now, as the needed technology was available. The names of Anushka, Nayanatara and Priyanka Chopra did the rounds for the role of heroine in the movie.
"It is known that I have been working on the script since the days of 'Okkadu'. I felt that the film needs a progressive technology which alone can make it possible. I feel that with the progress technology having been available, it is now possible to make it and project it in theatres. I will announce the other details very soon," he said.

Direcetd by Gunasekhar, the Telugu-Tamil bilingual film will track the travails and tribulations of \'Rudrama Devi\'.
The news is that the project has been finalised with Anushka. This expensive film will have music direction by Maestro Illayaraja. Art director Thota Tharani will design a set.
To be made as a Telugu-Tamil bilingual, the film tracks the travails and tribulations of Devi.
Illayaraja's music is expected to be a highlight in the film as the Maestro plans of using ancient instruments for composing the music.
