AP: 'Jagan coverts' creating ripples in Congress

Hyderabad: With Youth Congress leaders lodging a complaint with the PCC leadership against seven ministers alleging their involvement in covertly helping YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the issue of "political coverts" is creating ripples in the ruling party. Congress leaders, particularly from the anti-YS Rajasekhara Reddy camp, have started identifying those ministers who could be in contact with the YSRC leadership.

These leaders feel that coverts could be those whose family members and relatives worked for YSRC candidates victory in the recent bypolls. "Like these leaders, there are many covert operatives of Jagan in the Congress," a senior leader from Telangana said. With Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao and union minister of state for textiles Panabaka Lakshmi seeking action against these coverts, pressure is mounting on the party state leadership to address this issue immediately.

Former president of the state Youth Congress TJR Sudhakar Babu, who lodged a complaint with the PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana on Monday against seven ministers, told Express that he was confident that PCC leadership would initiate action against them. "I have asked the PCC chief to check call records of all ministers in the cabinet since the emergence of the YSRC Party to find out the coverts of Jagan. Botcha has promised that he would look into this issue in a ten-day period," Babu said. He is also said to have decided to approach the party high command over the issue incase proper action is not initiated by the state leadership in the coming days.

Congress leaders have started identifying those ministers who could be in contact with the YSRC leadership.

Labour minister Danam Nagender dismissed the allegations as false and wanted proof of the same. However, Nagender felt that chief minister should look into the matter.
