Hyderabad: A civil liberties lawyer, Jaya Vindyala, has been arrested under Section 66A of the IT Act for posting some comments on Facebook allegedly against former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Tamil Nadu Governor Rosaiah and an MLA A Krishna Mohan. The advocate, who is also a member of the People's Union for Civil Liberties, was arrested in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the police, local Congress MLA A Krishna Mohan of the Prakasam district had filed a complaint on April 18 against the advocate after she had accused him on Facebook of being a 'paedophile'. She had also accused him of engaging in land mafia exploiting his closeness to former CM Rosaiah.
The advocate has been arrested under the IT Act and has been remanded to 14 days' judicial custody. Krishna Mohan, in turn, has accused the PUCL of trying to dig out dirt against him through their fact finding teams.
